Rummikub

Group Convenor – Julia Keep

Rummikub is a fun game for 2 to 4 players combining some of the elements of rummy and mah-jong. There are 106 tiles and the aim is to arrange the tiles in runs or groups after an initial “meld” (canasta players will be familiar with the “meld”).  Like many board and card games, Rummikub is a mixture of luck and strategy.  It was devised by Ephraim Hertzano in 1940s Romania when card games were banned by the Communist regime.  He and his family then emigrated to Palestine (now Israel) where he developed the game further.  He wanted a game that was portable, could be played by the young and the old and was not related to any particular culture or tradition.  Rummikub is now played in over 70 countries.

So, whether you have played before or are a complete novice, come along for an entertaining afternoon.  We plan to meet at The Arts Centre on the first Monday of the month between 2pm and 4pm.  Do come and give it a go – you will be most welcome.

Check the Calendar as dates may change due to Bank Holidays.

Please use the Contact form below to join the group or for more information.

We are happy for you to come to a Coffee Morning or one main Monthly Meeting and to attend one individual group (with the exception of groups that require pre-booking and ticket purchases) before deciding whether to join St Austell u3a.
