The January Half Day Wanderers walk took us up through the Gover valley, alongside a White River tributary, past old leats and mine workings then up through a mossy valley eventually emerging close to the Blackpool pit.

We walked around the pit area before heading towards Trewoon and an uphill stretch, before fields and a small wood took us to the edge of a lake, prior to returning down the valley. It was interesting to see activity in the Blackpool pit area, it looks like a fish farm but may be part of the water extraction planned for the desalination plant. 6.7 miles, beautiful sunshine and took about 3 hours. A good start to our walking year.

Details of some of our previous walks are HERE
