March’s walk was the Clay Trails

The March walk was a revised choice of route from the north coast in view of strong easterly winds and driving rain to the safer and more temperate environment of the china clay trails.

Eight intrepid walkers set out from Wheal Martyn Museum at Carthew, noting the long legacy of china clay extraction in the area.

We followed the trail up to the Sky Spur where there were good views across the valley of a present day working pit and looking south to the coast; then onwards to the Carclaze pub for welcome coffee or tea. The return route took us back to Wheal Martyn where some enjoyed a tasty lunch in the excellent cafe. We had a visit from Maryanne, our chair, and Kes!

We are happy for you to come to a Coffee Morning or one main Monthly Meeting and to attend one individual group (with the exception of groups that require pre-booking and ticket purchases) before deciding whether to join St Austell u3a.

Please always contact a group convenor to ensure the session is going ahead
